You can make a qualified charitable distribution, which allows you to roll over funds from your retirement account directly to a 501(c)(3) organization without paying taxes on the contribution as part of your annual income. The distribution must be made from your retirement account holder to an organization like A Fund Inc. This counts as part of your RMD, but you pay no income tax on the gifted amount. You can make a bequest to A Fund Inc. in your will or living trust. Your bequest has no impact on your current cash flow, and you can modify your bequest at any time by a codicil to your will or an amendment to your trust. A bequest is entirely free from federal estate taxes. Your bequest can be a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or residuals after the sale of properties, securities, etc. Consult your tax advisor or estate planner to better understand the details for your particular situation.
